Weekly Blues Music Report: Imelda Holds, Jimmie Debuts
After Irish chanteuse Imelda May upset the apple kart last week with the higher-than-expected debut of her new album Mayhem, the blues chart has settled, somewhat, into its former lethargy. The Billboard magazine blues chart for the week ending August 13, 2011 includes the much anticipated debut of Jimmie Vaughan's Plays More Blues, Ballads & Favorites album at number three, knocking George Thorogood's 2120 South Michigan Avenue down a spot. Otherwise, May holds onto number two, and the Tedeschi Trucks Band's amazing stranglehold with Revelator at the top of the chart continues for its ninth week.
